Design Approach
A new construction project for the local non-profit RCD, funded by HUD and the City of Berkeley, Breland is an example of PWA’s ability to bring a high-end modern aesthetic to budget constrained non-profit projects.
A narrow urban site necessitated the creative use of a tight space. The Design strategy was to provide generous south-facing windows for the majority of units, light from two sides for all units, a centralized courtyard focusing all community activities, and lively colors, materials and landscaping to create a nurturing environment.
